Stock ROM Guru Reset Downloads

Stock ROM – Guru Reset Downloads

I have started to construct some stock ROM zip files that can be flashed in recovery (CWM/TWRP) to install the HTC One stock ROM for many different versions of the phone. You can also choose to install the stock Radio and also the stock Recovery.  The part about the stock recovery is important, because if you want to get OTA updates you will need the stock recovery.

Remember in order to be able to flash a recovery (stock or otherwise) your bootloader needs to be unlocked. So if you want to flash the stock recovery during the install you will need to make sure to have a unlocked bootloader.

If you are using the correct version for your phone, accepting an OTA update is one way of upgrading your firmware if you are S-On.  After the OTA update you can go back to flashing custom ROM’s if you wish and then you will be running on the current firmware for your device.

I have tested the 2.24.xxx.x ROM’s on all new firmware and the touch screen works without issues. So those packages should work for most everyone who just needs stock unbranded 4.2.2 HTC software and already has a firmware version of at least 2.xx.xxx.x.

However the 1.29.xxx ROM’s do not have a functioning touchscreen on 2.24 or higher firmware. You will need to either downgrade firmware with a RUU if S-off or use the 2.24 package. Since at least 2.24 has rolled out everywhere that I am aware, I don’t think you would need to install the old 1.29 rom.
***NOTE- Sprint received their touchscreen update at a different version point. The 1.31 Sprint version will not have functioning touchscreen on 1.29 firmware so just use the 1.29 package if needed.

If you don’t have a functioning touchscreen due to firmware not matching the stock rom software, you can use an OTG cable to attach a USB mouse and accept the OTA update which will bring your firmware current.

That is why the best method of resetting is to use a RUU or RUU.zip.  However there are lots of users who still have s-on and cannot run a RUU.  So this is the best I could do for those with S-On, a poor mans RUU if you will.  It essentially is like restoring a stock backup or the software from RUU’s through recovery using the GUI of the aroma installer.

This is great because after you restore the stock rom and the stock recovery you will be able to get OTA updates if you are using it on the correct phone type.

Here is a little video of the installation of the stock rom and recovery using the Guru Reset Tool.

This video was made to demonstrate installing the stock rom for AT&T 1.26.502.15 in order to get the Android 4.3 OTA update.  It also demonstrates using a mouse and OTG cable for touchscreen control when firmware doesn’t match.

I will eventually make more videos to demo more versions of the Guru Reset’s.

You can use this version information for ROM compatibility:

Here are the screenshots from the stock 2.24.401.1 ROM install:

As long as you chose to install the stock recovery and didn’t add root, all you should have to do is re-lock your bootloader after this and you will be almost out of the box stock.  It should not be needed for OTA updates but if you want you can re-lock your bootloader with this fastboot command if you are S-On:

fastboot oem relock

If you are S-Off then you can use this command:

fastboot oem lock

However if you are S-off then you could also use the command is THIS thread.

If using revone (This may result in data loss):

./revone -l

One difference from complete stock is that your bootloader will say RELOCKED instead of LOCKED. You more than likely will also have the Tampered flag showing on the bootloader as well. A few users have reported removing Tampered when restoring their phone with S-on, but most will find that with S-on you can not get rid of the Tampered. In order to get it back to it was out the box which is LOCKED and no Tampered, you need S-off.

Information on how to get S-Off located HERE thread.

This Toolkit can help you easily perform many common tasks such as
Installing HTC Drivers
Basic ADB and fastboot commands
Sideload or Push a File using ADB
Revone S-Off
Bootloader locking and unlocking
Flash Recovery
Root device
Change MID and CID

Failed attempt to RUU.exe my m7 lead me here. Reunlocked my bootloader, flashed in clockworkmod recovery just to find out that touch isn’t working in the aroma installer. Flashed the newest twrp and everything worked like a charm. Running 2.24.401.1 so grapped the same version zip, install from zip, setup my phone and then tested the ota 2.24.401.8 which worked fine. Great package and guide, Thank you. All this because I didn’t s-off…

    NEED HELP!

So I’m a complete novice with android rooting however I managed to root my HTC One a week ago. However, now I want to unroot it and I tried using the 2.24.401.8 ROM as my modelid and cidnum matched those. Also, I believe I had the same version before I rooted. However, when I tried using Clockwork Recovery to install the zip, I got “installation aborted”. Is it recommended that I try using the 2.24.401.1 ROM?

  3. Bob

Just want to update.. I redownloaded the 2.24.401.8 ROM and its working now!
    Thanks for the site man!

  4. sToRmInG

I would love to try but I have seen that the 2.24.161.1 is only for CID VODAP001 and VODAP102.

I am currently on the Google Edition. Before that I had a 2.24.161.1 VODAP110 from Swisscom (Swiss Provider). Is there any possibility to add the CID VODAP110?

  5. crushalot

Yes, the version number is the most important thing. So if you have 2.24.161.1 then it will work. I must have missed that CID. I will add it to the file comments.

    1. sToRmInG

      Thanks a lot.
I think that maybe the boot.img is different due to the branding but the version number is the same.
Have you seen my second comment here: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-161-1-zip/ ?

      1. crushalot

The kernel shouldn’t be different for the branding.
Those backups wouldn’t have the stock recovery correct? I will see if I can compare the kernel to my data.

        1. sToRmInG

I can provide an OTA for 2.24.161.1. See PM at xda-developers.com (sToRm1nG).

But I don’t know if you received the PM.

Downloaded the AT&T version and Chrome detected the file as malicious.

That is normal. It is because it is a Zip file with code and script in it.
      Files are ok.

  12. mobshredder

Hi, I am now on 2.24.206.7 (O2 UK) with HTC One M7. CID is O2___102. Running HBOOT 1.54.000 S-ON.
I can’t find a matching Stock for my ONE. I would like to be able to use running stock x.xx.207.x – O2 DE (Germany).

How can I get into that? I have searched several forums and sites and I can’t get it on alone. If i just had S-OFF it would be much easier.
    Help me please.

    1. crushalot

You should be able to S-off with rum runner while running 2.24.401.8 and using that version of rumrunner.

  13. Arne

    Hi!
Hope you can advice me a little here!
I went from my HTC TMOB101 DE to Google Play edtition and finally I’m back on a working HTC One thanx to this:

RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.29.707.3_R_Radio_4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_311678_signed. I found it on your page and it worked like a charm after downgrading to Hboot 1.44! After this install I got it updated OTA to the verison you se below…

Relocked Bootloader and S-OFF, no root
    My CID is 11111111

The thing is I like to have the latest recovery from your site; OTA_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_3.62.401.1-2.24.401.8_release_338160gxmo5sd9337kadux

In order to be able to use this I have to unlock my bootloader again, but now HTCdev tells me that:

“Error Code: Invalid Bootloader Token Length.
Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won’t work”

    Finally my question ;-)

Is it possible to use the original unlock_code.bin I got to my CID TMOB101 or will this corrrupt my bootloader?
Is there any other way to get a clean, unbrande stock JB 43 5.5 EU RUU or zip like the one mentioned above?
Is it possible to use another way of unlocking my bootloader again?

    Kind regards!
    Arne

    1. crushalot

You just need to go to htcdev and do the process again to get a new unlock code. You can’t use the first you again.

Yes. Just choose to install the stock recovery during the install and then you should receive an OTA update which will bring your software and firmware to matching updated levels.

    Hi crushalot!

Love your video tutorial and its exactly what I needed after searching countless forums with a bunch of different solutions that didn’t answer my questions. This site is GODSEND!!!

I’m about to reflash to stock from custom rom on 4.3 using your Guru Reset 1.26.502.12. My goal is to update my firmware and gain s-off after restock but I’m unsure if I should do this before or after requesting the ATT OTA.

Should I flash Guru Reset, run revone then relock and request OTA updates?
Or should I flash GR, request OTA, then gain s-off with revone?

    MANY MANY THANKS in advanced!!!!

Most see best results with revone before the OTA.
Rumrunner should work after but the process is a little more involved.

  17. Marc

OK, I’m flying blind at the moment and could really use some help. I’ve flashed rooms, recovery, etc before, but at some point while trying to install TWRP, the file either became corrupted or something installed incorrectly. As it stand now my phone is stuck on Android 4.1.2, software version 1.29.666.17. It is from Bell Mobility in Canada. Which of these installation pack would I need to use?

I’m sorry if I’m asking a lot. This messed up recovery has had me scrambling for weeks trying to figure out how to fix it.

    1. crushalot

If your bootloader is unlocked then there should be no issue in flashing a recovery.
I do not have a Guru Reset for x.xx.666.x for for Bell at this time, although I am working on a 4.3 version.
Your best bet is to use the stock backup and take the OTA update:
      http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-bm___001-1-29-666-5-zip/

      1. Marc

Thank you for the response. I admit I’ve never done a nandroid backup before. What steps would I need to use it?

  18. Marc

I should clarify that because of the recovery being messed up, I cannot download the ota updates. As it stand right now, I just want to go back to the stock Rom.

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct ROM for me and if so what am I doing wrong. As you can see below it has 24 fails. Ive even tried re-locking the OEM after pushing over the ZIP file.

    Hi there,

I’m pretty new to HTC and to Android as well, so please help me get the whole ROM thing cleared.
I just bought a HTC ONE 32GB black mobile with details below

    M7_UL PVT
    cid: HTC__622
    mid: PN0714000
    main version: 2.24.708.4
    hboot: 1.54.0000
    radio: 4A.18.3250.15
    os: 2.24.708.4

I use this mobile in Hungary, Europe

My question is, am I able to switch the ROM to get europian OTA updates? Is WWE contain the Hungarian language? Exacly which RUU should I use, or what am I supposted to do for changeing asian ROM to a europian? Does the changeing of cid and mid affect the mobile functionality?

    Thank you

    Hi,

For the CID: HTC__322 wich one is the best??

or can you upload for this CID???

  50. gmt

Hi, your Guru Reset M7 3.62.401.1 saved me from a soft bricked HTC ONE M7. Long story short I had the phone on 4.3 rooted and TWRP installed and I have tried to install 4.4.2 firmware.zip through fastboot flash, it worked but it bricked it. Till I not used your reset file I could not get past fastboot menu. The problem now is that even I have it up and running, it shows 4.3 and so on everything works fine, the OTA update check though it says “No updates for your phone” so it looks like it cannot get the updates. I suspect that the stock recovery was not set back properly:

Whenever I boot in to recovery I get this message:

    mount SDCARD failed 1 times
    mount SDCARD failed 2 times
    mount SDCARD failed 3 times
    mount SDCARD failed 4 times
    mount SDCARD failed 5 times
can not mount SD card. (No such file or directory)
    Disable host mode:0

    And the phone reboots

My question: is that normal? I suppose not, and how it can be fixed?
If I am doing a “fastboot getvar all” now I get:

    (bootloader) version: 0.5
    (bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.56.0000
    (bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.23.3263.28

    (bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
    (bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
    all: Done!
    finished. total time: 0.058s

Which to me it looks like the bootloader is at KitKat version 4.4.2 as it looks exactly like the number in the OTA update OTA_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R-3.62.401.1_release_353071ka19rmkvzdvkhpf4.zip)

Should I fastboot flash the recovery.img and boot.img from Guru Reset M7 3.62.401.1 package, I suspect that because the version was inferior to the one on the phone it was not overwritten.

    Best regards,

  51. gmt

Hi, in extent to my previous comment maybe we can have a Guru Reset M7 4.19.401.9 soon… :-)

  52. VH

    Hi All, I need help.
    I have HTC one M7.
    device details is:
    M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
    HBOOT: 1.56.0000
    RADIO-4a.23.3263.28
    OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
    OS:4.20.707.6

And it had firmware 4.20.707.6. but my brother had installed recovery and flashed other ROM. I want to go back to stock rom and get proper OTA updates. we flashed phone with Guru Reset 3.63.707.4 with TWRP recovery. Guru Reset install was successfull. And I do get the update also. But i installation for new update fails with triangle with “!” (red).
I have also tried with Guru Reset 2.24.707.1. Here installation is successfull but after that phone is in boot loop. So again i need to use recovery and get the Guru Reset 3.63.707.4.

NOTE: after both the guru reset 3.63.707.4 and 2.24.707.1 also phone shows OS:4.20.707.6.

I will be very thankfull if any one can help me with the problem here. I want to go for the stock rom where i get OTA updates.
Thanks in advance. looking eagarly for the reply.

  53. Tanveer

    HI VH,

You should wait for s-off tools with Hboot 1.56, as far i know till now 4 march 2014 there is no option to get s-off on Hboot 1.56 and once we get S-off on 1.56 Hboot you can do what you want.

    Dear Crushalot,

Any chance you build guru reset tools for M7CDWG Indian version since the ruu for this variant is none?
    Thanks.

Please upload the 401.11 Kit Kat. Thx

Thank you for the brilliant website. I’ve use one of the nandroid backups for my carrier (EE UK) but I now keep getting the message that an OTA is available (Android 4.3 sense 5.5). I have root and was previously running a stock android 4.4 version for international variant. I returned to stock rom so I could use EE Cash on Tap – and i would like to be able to keep using this app.

I have tried installing several different stock recoveries but nothing seems to let the OTA install. It gets halfway through the loading (blue exclamation) but then goes to red warning triangle for about a minute before rebooting.

If anyone could shed any light on the cause of the error and what I could try to fix it I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance!

    I’m currently running:
    Android 4.2.2
    Sense 5.0

OK – Used French Orange Stock Recovery from Guru Reset – thank you for the files. Is it possible to now root and keep stock recovery?

      1. Andy Long

        Hi David,

I have Orange HTC One with TWRP custom recovery running 4.3 Sense 5.5 and S-OFF. Are you saying that the French Orange RUU will work and return phone to stock for OTA update to 4.4.2?

I had been using CM11, but have reloaded my stock backup that I created before wiping my device.

        THanks

        Andy

        1. David

          Hi Andy,

Sorry about the delay in replying. From what you say I think it should work for your device as it sounds similar to what I was running although I used the nandroid backup from this site to go back to android 4.2. So if you cant get yours to work I would restore back to 4.2 and try again.,
I have to say that as of 22nd April EE (Orange/T-Mobile) haven’t released the update to 4.4 so i might be worth waiting anyway.

          Hope his helps!

          1. David

Sorry just read this properly – you will need download the RUU for Orange France and extract the recovery image in order to do any ‘stock type stuff’. Without the correct recovery all updates will download but then fail when installing.

Man, you are my hero!! Back to stock incl. ota updates!! Running the latest kit kat 4.19.401.11 THX!!
For those who have problems with installing ota updates, first run the guru reset then only log in to your wifi and finish installation of your phone (do not log in to personal account or what so ever) and reboot into bootloader. Then relock your bootloader and reboot. Check for updates and install.

    1. Huguesk2

I see no one has any concerete solution to S-Off HBoot 1.56, even I am in same situation. Guru please help.

  68. Ibrahim Daher

    Can I flash 2.24.xxx.xx on 4.19.xxx.xx?

  69. Zachar

    Hello.
My phone was flashed during warranty service (purple camera problem) to hboot 1.56.
I used guru reset tool 3.62.401.1 but after that I still have hboot 1.56 and cannot s-off.
Am I doing something wrong or unfortunately this reset tool will not help to hboot 1.56?
Thanks in advance for any response.

    1. crushalot

Reset’s are just ROM and recovery. It will not change hboot. You have to have S-off to downgrade hboot. It can be upgraded via official OTA or firmware update.

      1. Zachar

But I can’t s-off because rumrunner doesn’t work on hboot 1.56 (I tried). I had no problem with hboot 1.55.
        And I can’t downgrade hboot because I’m S-On. Circle is closed :/
So is there any other way to gain s-off?
        Thanks.

        1. CS

Try using Firewater S-Off, it worked like a charm for me. Just follow the instructions carefully. :)

          http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/

          1. Andy

I have the same problem, i have hboot 1.56 & i tried almost everything, NONE worked for me, i am NOT able to gain s-Off, & According to CrushAlot, to downgrade hboot, you need to have s-Off, & to install sOff, you need to have hboot 1.55 or less..its like a deadlock…please HELP, please :(

  70. Moala

Hi can I change my CID to a different region, then use the one with the matching changed CID and get OTA of said region normally? or would it break my phone?

  71. Raphel

    Hi Crushalot,

    Kindly need your help.
I am from Holland and I need to send my HTC One to be serviced due to (purple camera problem).
My phone is rooted and S-off and I need to set back to original to be able to revive my waranty.

    My Phone info:-
    M7_UL PVT Ship S_Off
    CID T-MOB101
    H Boot 1.55.000
    Radio 4A.22.3263.03
    Open DSP V32.120.274.0909
    Ver. 3.63.111.3
    TWRP v2.7.0.0

I am tempted to download your Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.111.3.zip because it is the one that can match the T-mobile version.

Could you please advise if this is the correct thing to download?
I couldn’t find any matching RUU for my phone.

    Thanks a lot.

  72. Danny

I previously used this reset zip to get ota for firmware update.

    Guru Reset M7 2.24.771.3
    mid: PN0710000
    cid: H3G__001

Since then I have kept backups of newer stock Rom/recovery for refllshing to get newer ota’s. But the nandroid I have for 4.4.2 Sense55 is corrupt and won’t restore properly. And I can’t get a download for it anywhere.

Can I flash this reset zip again and get ota’s again with my firmware number 4.20.771.17? and then continue to take sense6 ota?

Hi, I’m looking for AT&T htc one RUU zip 1.26.502.6 with radio 4M.27.3218.14, can you help please, thanks

  76. Mauricio

Hi, first of all thanks for your post.

I have one HTC one soft-bricked and have tried to use this method but unfortunately I had one problem.

My HTC one has the following specifications:
    • Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) – v.2.6.3.3
    • HBOOT – 1.54.0000
    • Version-baseband – 4A.17.3250.14
    • MODELID (MID) – PN0714000
    • CID – HTC__039
    • OS – 2.24.980.2

So I downloaded this Guru Reset “Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.980.2″ (renamed as RUU.zip) that i think is apropriated phone version. My fastboot is unlocked and as I do not have any SO installed I saved this file in my fone using adb. Anyway, when I go into recovery>install and select this RUU.zip, I receive this following message: Error flashing zip ‘/sdcard/RUU.zip. I’ve tried with 2 other different files but it always give me the same error. I’ve tried another method to unbrick my phone but it envolves to turn it S-OFF and all the methods I’ve find to S-OFF the phone, like rumrunner or firewater, it need to have an OS installed and as I said it was wiped. I’ve 10 days reding this forum looking for one piece of help to my case but everything I have tried didn’t work. Could you guys, please, give me some piece of advice to solve this issue??

    Thanks.

    1. jakir

      Hi Mauricio,
Did u find any solutoin for ur problem? I m also stuck at the same stage.

  77. Rupert_Murdoch

    Hi crushalot,

Thanks for your efforts! I downloaded one of your Stock Roms packages (have s-on) and installed via CWM. I was running CM11 and wanted to go back to stock. The update ran perfectly, and device booted with 4.2.2. I then downloaded an OTA update, but after installing, the device is in a bootloop. Could that be because I did not relock the bootloader prior to flashing the OTA? I can get into fastboot, so presumably I can flash something using fastboot/adb on my machine. Fastboot getvar all below. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Cheers!

    Hi All,

I had stock rom rooted, boot loader unlocked and cwm recovery installed.
Yet I wanted to go back to stock to have the phone replaced.

I have used this guide and downloaded the right installation for Vodafone UK.
It installed just fine and once loaded I downloaded an oat update, it restarted to install, seemed like it did the job but once it finished installing it rebooted and since then the phone is stuck in what looks to be a boot loop.

I thought I’ll reinstall rom using ruu but couldn’t find one for Htc one Vodafone UK.

Could you please help me to fix this issue and get phone back and running please?

    Hi

    Thanks for the post!

My build number is 1.54.401.5, I’m S-on and Hboot ver. 1.56. It is an (network/carrier) unlocked UK model.

Which Guru Reset version should I download?

    Thanks!!

    1. Ed

I just used fastboot getvar all and under version-main its 4.19.401.11. This number is also listed as OS-4.19.401.11 when I am in bootloader.

Which one is my firmware number, the build number from software information or the version-main number?

      Thanks!!

      1. crushalot

        Version-main is your firmware version.
Use the version that matches the second number in your version (401)

I struggled for HOURS to return my HTC One to stock. I kept getting errors when I tried to flash any RUUs. I happened upon these ROMs and was able to push the file to my device with adb, boot into TWRP, and install without any problems.

Big ups to everyone who worked on this.

    Huge Thanks.

I installed the reset guru but my system updates dont seem to be working. i get the notification for the update but when I install the update , it goes through the process but hangs on htc one start screen. I also tried the ota zip file OTA_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE55_MR_Vodafone_UK_3.63.161.6-2.24.161.1_release_340013akpd6pd8gw00infp) through recovery but comes up with operation failed cid invalid. What I did notice that after guru reset my os number on bootloader stays at 6.12.161.8 and does not revert to 2.24.161.1 . Any assistance in this regard is highly appreciated. By the way hboot is 1.57
    Best wishes to all

Hi guys, just to know, I’m on stock rom 6.09.401.10, unlocked, rooted and S-On, with hboot 1.57 and trwp recovery, I would remove root to my phone and return totally stock (recovery included) for ota. Can I install the stock reset 3.62.401.1 directly, having no problems? Thank you!
